Uh oh…did you overdo the salt quota when making your favourite curry? Don’t worry all is not lost! Here are a few solutions to get you back on track.
If you have some chapati dough lying around, make a few balls, add them to the curry and bring it to a boil for a few minutes. The dough balls will soak up some of the salt. Don’t forget to throw out the dough before you serve the curry.
If yoghurt or coconut milk will enhance your curry, you can add either of these as they will balance out the flavours and equalize the saltiness.
If your curry is just a tad salty, add a little sugar to stabilize the taste. But this won’t work for very salty curries; it will only result in your curry tasting more like a dessert.
